Beekeeping Apprenticeship

The Beekeeping Apprenticeship Program by SOILS Permaculture Association Lebanon is the only program of its kind in Lebanon. The apprenticeship is carefully designed to equip you with the comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to launch your own professional beekeeping career. The program is divided into 8 monthly sessions from February to October 2019, and covers the full basics of beekeeping throughout the seasons: -Winter: winter hive management, maintaining hives, preparing wax frames, applying preventive treatments, feeding -Spring: adding frames, swarming, changing queens -Summer: extracting honey, conserving frames, applying varroa treatment -Autumn: melting wax, treating diseases, moving hives, preparing for winter Who can participate? Applicants should have followed an Introductory Beekeeping Workshop with SOILS or another reputable organization. Schedule Round one of the apprenticeship was launched on Saturday February 16, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Each session includes a theoretical part, a beehive visit, or hands-on tasks related to treatment and beehive maintenance. Some readings were assigned in between sessions. Location All sessions take place at the AFIR apiary in the village of Saidoun, Jezzine.
